Serving as a Family
“But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

We want our kids to grow up with faith. We pray with them, take them to church, teach them Bible stories. But there's something powerful that happens when faith moves from words to action—when serving others becomes a family rhythm.
Joshua didn't just declare faith for himself. He made it a household commitment. Serving God wasn't an individual pursuit—it was something they did together. And when families serve together, something beautiful happens: faith becomes real, tangible, lived.
Serving as a family doesn't require grand gestures. It can look like making meals for a neighbor, sorting donations together, writing encouraging notes to people who need hope. It's showing your kids that faith isn't just what we believe—it's how we love.
When children see their parents stop to help someone, they learn compassion. When they participate in serving, they experience the joy of giving. When the family prays together over the people they're serving, faith becomes something they do, not just something they talk about.
Service also unites a family. It gives you shared purpose, shared memories, shared stories of God's work in your lives. Years from now, your kids won't just remember that you went to church. They'll remember the time you all packed care packages, or helped a family move, or spent an afternoon serving at a community center.
