Faith in Uncertain Times
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
— Hebrews 11:1
Uncertainty feels suffocating. You don't know what's coming next—in your job, your health, your relationships, the world around you. The future feels foggy, and you're trying desperately to see through it, to plan, to control something.
But faith doesn't require a clear view. In fact, it exists precisely when we can't see.
Hebrews 11 celebrates people who moved forward without knowing how things would turn out. Abraham left his home without a map. Moses led people through the desert without a GPS. They didn't have all the answers. They just had God's voice saying, "Trust me. I've got you."
Faith isn't about having certainty. It's about having confidence in the One who holds the future—even when we can't see it yet. It's trusting that God is good, that His plans are purposeful, and that He's walking with us through the fog.
You don't have to have it all figured out. You don't need a perfect plan or a foolproof strategy. You just need to take the next faithful step—and then the next one. God meets us in the uncertainty. He doesn't always clear the fog, but He does promise to guide us through it.
So breathe. You're not expected to see the whole path. You're only asked to walk it, one step at a time, with Jesus beside you.
To try this week
Today, name one area of uncertainty in your life. Instead of trying to control it, write a simple prayer: "God, I don't know what's next, but I trust You with it." Then take one small step forward in faith, trusting He'll light the next part of the path when you need it.
A closing prayer
Father, I can't see what's ahead, and it scares me. But I choose to trust You. Help me walk in faith, one step at a time, knowing You're guiding me even when I can't see the full path. Amen.
